University Connections

University Connections is designed to assist new freshmen students in making a successful academic and social transition to Georgia Regents University. The program aims to foster a sense of belonging at GRU, promote engagement in the curricular and co-curricular life of GRU, establish college expectations for new students, and assist students in developing or clarifying their purpose, meaning, and direction. In providing programmatic and advisement support, students in the University Connections program will become active participants in both their own future and the future of our community, state, region, and nation.

The underlying goal of the University Connections Program is to increase retention and progress students to graduation.

Students who are members in the University Connections program:

    1. earn higher GPA’s than their comparative freshmen class;
    2. earn a 3.0 GPA at a higher rate than their comparative freshmen class;
    3. persist at a higher rate to the following academic semester than their comparative freshmen class;
    4. are more engaged on campus, holding more leadership positions than their comparative class.

What Our Students Are Saying

 “University Village has become my home away from home. I’ve met some great friends and been provided a lot of opportunities for fun but also growth during my first year of college. I couldn’t ask for a better living experience!” –Matthew Allums

“When I came to college, I was nervous about meeting people and fitting in. But UV Connections really helped me find my place on campus. The fun events have been a great way to meet new people and hang out with old friends.” –Tevin Williams

 “Not only has UV Connections helped me meet new people but it has also made me a more responsible student. Having tutors for two of my classes has really helped me understand my class material and made studying for my tests so much easier.” –Shantelle Brown
