Other services available:
Minor Procedures- We perform a variety of minor procedures at SHS, including biopsy, cryosurgery, laceration repair, excisions, steroid injections, jet nebulizer treatments and IUD insertions.
Laboratory services- We provide many laboratory services in- house and others through our contracted laboratory. If you are insured with the GRU Student Health Insurance plan, we can bill the plan on your behalf for the laboratory services. If you are on a private insurance plan, we can send your specimens to our contracted laboratory or another laboratory that your insurance plan may require. If the lab ordered cannot be obtained in our clinic, we have a contracted laboratory very close to the GRU campus.
Diagnostic Testing- In addition to our laboratory services, we also perform diagnostic testing to include EKG, pulmonary function, pulse oximetry, visual acuity, peak flow and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
Physical Therapy- Physical therapy services are now available at our location. These services are ordered after an evaluation by one of the medical providers.
Immunizations- Tdap, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Gardasil immunizations are available at GRU Student Health. No appointment is needed for these visits.
TB testing -Performed 8:00 to 4:00 pm, except Thursdays.
Travel Consults- We offer travel health information and appropriate vaccinations to students. Our Providers give consultations offering CDC recommended immunizations, medical precautions, travel safety and tips on accessing emergency medical care.
SHS does not provide radiology services. Referrals for xrays will be made to the facility chosen by the student and/ or required by the student’s insurance policy.
Specialty clinics and specialty tests are also referred, at the discretion of the physician in clinic. We do have physicians who specialize in sport's medicine, women’s health and psychiatry.
Routine eye exams are not done in SHS. We perform vision screening only. An appointment may be made with the GRU Eye Clinic by calling 706-721-2020, or at any Optometrist or Ophthalmologist.
In the event of an emergency, please call 911 or go to the closest Emergency Room.
If you have a blood or body fluid exposure or other emergent condition, report directly to an emergency room.
If you are covered by the GRU student insurance plan and the Student Health clinic is closed, you do not need a referral to be seen by an outside provider. You will be responsible for any uncovered expenses (the deductible and 20% co-insurance). Make sure your provider is in-network to maximize the reimbursement from the insurance company. Please note urgent care centers typically charge less than an emergency room.
If Student Health is closed and you want to be seen at the GRU Family Medicine Clinic, call 706-721-4588 for an appointment (please identify yourself as a GRU student).
In the event of an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room.
