Research Interests

Our research focuses on 1) the physiological and pathological role of neddylation and deneddylation in the heart, 2) the interplay of the Nedd8 system and protein quality control, and 3) the role of PQC in the development of diabetic cardiomyopathy. We will use a combination of novel genetically engineered mouse models with advanced molecular, cellular and proteomic techniques to tackle these questions.

Current Projects

  • The physiological role of SENP8 in the heart.
  • Neddylation/deneddylation in cardiac protein quality control.
  • Regulation of cardiomyocyte survival by neddylation/deneddylation.
  • The ubiquitin proteasome system in diabetic cardiomyopathy.
